A consultation on draft recommendations for ward boundaries in Reigate and Banstead has begun

On the 5th June the Local Government Boundary Commission published draft recommendations for new wards, ward boundaries, and ward names for Reigate and Banstead Borough Council.

They are now inviting comments on those recommendations.

The consultation closes on 13 August 2018.

We notified you earlier in the year about proposed boundary changes by the Local Government Boundary Commission which were to affect the area around Tattenham Corner ad would see large chunks of Tattenham Corner being reassigned to Nork Ward rather than as it currently is in Tattenhams and Preston Ward. Although we, Tattenham Corner Community (TCC), are a committee formed purely for social interaction and events in Tattenham Corner, and NOT a political party, we decided that to best serve our community we needed to continue to inform you as this consultation unfolds.

TCC and many members of the local community did write in to oppose roads such as Tattenham Crescent, Downland Way and Shawley Way (inc. our school) being reallocated to Nork Ward. You will see in the reports (below) that the appeal letters had a great impact and our arguments were listened to and have informed the revised plans.

Following the completion of the initial consultation period (appeal entries deadline being Monday 9th April 2018) the following documentation has been released to explain the Boundaries Commissions initial findings and revised plans. You will see that the ward containing Tattenham Corner is now being called Tattenham Corner and Preston Ward

The Tattenhams Residents Association and local Councillors have advised us that the process is still on going and the proposed plans are far from finalised, so we need to keep our interaction with the Commission going but this time to confirm that they have listened to the people’s views and to show that we agree with the newly revised changes keeping the roads closest to Tattenham Corner actually in Tattenham Corner and Preston Ward.
