A House For Morgan

Morgan suffers terribly from Eczema, Asthma, severe food and environmental allergies and worst still, a life threatening kidney condition called FSGS Nephrotic Syndrome. He is so very poorly that he didn't get to celebrate his birthday properly this year. He can sometimes be in so much pain that he doesn't sleep a wink. His skin can be so raw that he looks burnt and his distress can be so upsetting that Dana and her husband Paul weep. Lengthy stays in hospital are common. He's in a lot of pain all the time.

In amongst all of this is Jenson, his brother. He loves to run around and do what all two year olds do: wreak playful havoc. Jenson doesn't get to call the shots though, his routine is dictated by Morgan's health and as they only have a two bedroom flat, he has to sleep in a bed with his parents. Him sharing with Morgan is impossible due to the risk to Morgan's health from allergies and the disturbance they would cause to each other during the night.

Because Dana is a full time carer to Morgan she cannot work. Paul finds himself only able to work a certain number of hours each week in order to be able to assist with everyday practicalities, appointments, rest for Dana and childcare. In short, even if they wanted to, they wouldn't be able to work enough hours to earn a big enough salary to qualify for a larger mortgage to buy the house the desperately need.

They need our help.

We are looking to help them move to a home with their own bedrooms and outside space to play come rain or shine. We want to help them stay near their friends, Morgan's school and their network of support. Please help us raise the shortfall they need to make this possible.

This family hardly get any rest or respite. All of them, not just Morgan, have a very tough time day to day dealing with Morgan's poor health. Despite that they are the happiest, kindest and most positive family we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. We see houses change hands all of the time and we just couldn't walk away from this family knowing the banks would not support their move. We figured with a bit of community help we could help them get their 3 bedroom house with a garden.

Raising this money will give Jenson a much needed bedroom and Morgan a much needed garden. Morgan is very sensitive to the sun and so having his own garden will mean he can go out and play when the sun is less hot and the days are a bit darker. Poor Morgan wakes throughout the night, disturbing the whole family. The difference having their own bedrooms, where each family member can properly rest, will make a huge difference to all of their health's, not just Morgan's.

Paul Bishop is a very proud and resourceful man and has done a lot to support his family in excruciatingly difficult circumstances and so he wasn't too keen on this idea when we suggested it! However, we have talked him round. With existing equity and the help of our lovely mortgage advisor, Paul is almost in a position to afford a family home locally (very important so that their huge support network isn't lost). The funds raised here will be used to top up their Deposit for their new home.
